I’d venture to say that there’s nothing quite like shopping for my kids to get me into the Christmas spirit. I don’t know what happens to me, one minute I’m telling them that we have too many toys and the next minute I find myself in the store going crazy on new toys that they’d love. And it’s easy to know exactly what they’d love because they have characters that they watch on tv or the iPad everyday, one of which is Doc McStuffins. So when I find myself toy shopping for them, I know that anything with Doc McStuffins is an instant winner. I first saw the Doc McStuffins Get Better Check Up Center at an event in Chicago over the summer, and immediately sent a picture to my husband letting him know what was soon to end up in our toy area. And when the Check Up Center made KMart’s Fab 15 toys of the season, I honestly wasn’t surprised at all.
The Doc McStuffins Get Better Check Up Center has everything your little one will need to play doctor and heal their favorite toys. The brightly colored center comes with the absolutely essential otoscope and Big Book of Boo Boos, along with x-ray area with extra films, eye chart, and bandaid stickers (I’m expecting those to be especially popular). But what’s really impressive about this toy is how many interactive parts it has – the table top lights up and speaks some of the shows most famous phrases, the cell phone has a button that they can push to accept a call, the daisy scale really moves when weight is placed on it, and the height checker is adjustable so they can really see how tall their stuffed animals and dolls have grown.
It goes without saying that my girls are going to flip out when they see this toy, but as a mom, I’m pretty impressed with it too. I love that this toy contains everything that my girls could ever need to play Doc McStuffins, and there are plenty of parts so both of them can play at one time. As a mom of two girls so close together in age, I can’t stand when they fight over a toy and it seems that one always wants what the other has. This toy is big enough and has enough parts for them to play together. At the same time, it’s not a huge toy. It will fit perfectly in the play area in our living room and not be an eyesore. It’s also an interactive toy, which will get them to be creative. What mom wouldn’t love that?
My only cautionary note with this toy is to parents who like to put together their kids’ gifts on Christmas Eve. If you’re one of those parents, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to put this particular toy together – this should be the first toy you put together, not the last. Don’t get me wrong, assembly is pretty straight forward and the parts snap together easily, but there are lots of parts. It took me about an hour to put it together and get all the stickers in the right place. But that extra time will be more than worth it when you put it under the tree and see your kids go crazy opening it!

Honestly, the Check Up Center is the absoulte best thing on the Fab 15 list! It’s useful and I love the colors! It teaches girls to strive for a science-based prifession, which we all know is important!
