Celebrate Mom with a MetLife & a #Moem

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of MetLife Foundation for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

As my kids towed home their handmade gifts from school on Friday afternoon, I was reminded that the best gifts really are from the heart.  For my kids, that’s creative projects made from construction paper, glitter, and glue.  And while I occasionally dabble in construction paper, glue, and glitter, it’s a bit late to send my mom something homemade.  That’s why this year, I created a Moem for my mom.

What’s a Moem, you ask?  A Moem is a tribute poem to your mom, grandma, wife, or other important woman in your life, that’s written and posted to Facebook or Twitter.  A Moem is typically 110 characters or less, and preferably it rhymes.  The best part?  From now through May 11, 2014 at 11:59pm, MetLife will donate $10 for each unique Moem shared (with a goal of $50,000) to Dress for Success, an organization dedicated to supporting low-income women in their search for employment and economic independence.

But what if you’re not creative?  It’s okay!  Trust me, I develop almost immediate writer’s block when it comes to poetry.  But MetLife’s #Moem maker can help!  After selecting a first line from their long list of options, the Moem maker will provide you with rhyming word suggestions of how to finish the second line.  Once you’re done, share using their Facebook or Twitter buttons and you’re done!  Show you mom how much you care and contribute to a great cause.  It’s a win, win.  Here’s mine:

I chose to share it on Twitter, but might go back and share on Facebook too, just to make sure she sees it.  I think she’s going to love it.  Or at least have a little laugh.

So don’t delay, create and post your own Moem today!  Hey, look at that, all that Moem making has made me a poet!

A moem — how fun! I loved how there are Moem starters and then rhyming suggestions. Kids of any age could do this!

  2. Fun! I had never heard of a moem. I’m posting a facebook one now.

What a fun idea! I am definitely not talented when it comes to writing poetry, so I am glad there will be some help! LOL! And I agree, the best gifts are always the one’s that come from the heart!

I love that Met Life is donating to Dress for Success for every Moem written. I’d write one, but my Mom isn’t on social media at all!
