Dreaming & Lounging in the Dex DayDreamer {Review}

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

My stay in the hospital after Everett’s birth was rough.  There were lots of reasons for it being rough, but sleep was a big issue.  Don’t get me wrong, we were both tired and wanted to sleep, but each time I would lay him down, his beautiful little eyes would pop right back open.  Once I went back to holding him, he was right back to sleep.  By day 3 of this madness, I was exhausted.  I knew we had to find a better way for him to sleep and for all of us to get some rest.

After a bit of trial and error, I realized that Everett sleeps better when he isn’t flat on his back.  Since tummy sleeping isn’t safe for babies, I decided to try laying him down on a bit of an incline.  And sure enough, he slept…like a baby.  Once I figured that out, I needed places for him to be able to sleep during the day when I was tidying up the kitchen, watching a movie with the girls, or blogging.  Because dragging a bassinet around the house isn’t terribly convenient.  Do-able, but certainly not convenient.  So when I was given the opportunity to review the Dex DayDreamer, I jumped at the chance.  It was just perfect for my inclined sleeper.daydream3

Designed for babies from newborn to 5 months, the Dex DayDreamer is on a 28 degree angle providing little ones a premium place for viewing the world around them or just peaceful place to snooze.  But don’t worry, the sides of this napper are high enough to prevent your little one from falling out (and as an added bonus, they’ll make sure the toys they’re playing with stay off the floor and germ-free as well!).  The removable, machine washable cover comes in 3 colors – powder blue, sage green, and carnation pink (mine is sage), and is ultra soft for baby’s comfort.  In addition to being comfortable, the cover is made of a moisture wicking material, and the seat is waterproof for those longer naps where accidents could happen.  For maximum comfort, the tummy belt is covered in the same soft material as the cover, and has a one button snap release, making it easy to get baby in and out.   Best of all, it’s light enough to be carried from room to room.

And as you can see, my little guy is quite a fan.  But really, it’s not just him, I’m a pretty big fan of the DayDreamer too.  I love that it is designed with his comfort and safety in mind.  From the ultra soft, velour feel cover to the padded waist strap, this lounger is designed for relaxation.   I don’t need to worry about him when he’s in it either – the base is stable, the walls are high enough so he can’t roll out, and the perforated core means I don’t have to worry about him overheating.  But convenience is also key with the DayDreamer.  The lightweight nature of this infant seat allows me to transport it to any room in my house.  Once he’s in it, I can be hands free and actually get things done around the house, you know, like laundry and dishes and maybe even a little bit of blogging.

Okay, in all honesty, I wasn’t actually blogging in that picture, I was online shopping, but you get the point.

If you have a baby that likes to sleep or play on an incline – and so many babies do – the DayDreamer is an absolute must.  It’s one of those baby items that you can start using from day one and will make your life so much easier!
