My Christmas gift a couple of years ago was the adoption fee for a dog. So in a way my doggie was a Christmas gift, but it was much better than actually getting a dog under the tree, because I got to go to the shelter and pick out a dog who would be compatible with us. (I had really been wanting a dog and also knew about this gift ahead of time.)

the best one was the bear i got form my brother last year it was the 9/11 one police one and then look i tup and found out that not many were made
When I was young and money was super tight the only thing I wanted was a carousel horse. My mom scrimped and saved and christmas morning I had a beautiful hand painted carousel horse lamp that was full sized. I still have it to this day and cherish it deeply. I know now what my mom went without to do it. 🙂

Probably the best thing I ever got was the year after my husband and I split up, I bought a mobile home, but we had no furniture except for bedroom furniture. My parents bought us a little dinette, a loveseat, and an entertainment center so we would have a place to put a TV. It looked a lot more like home once there was some furniture in there!
