Helping Cats, One Purchase at a Time

This post is sponsored by Cat’s Pride but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

When I was a little girl, I wanted a kitten more than anything.  I even went so far as to lure the neighbor’s cat into my yard for hopes that it would stay (it didn’t, and luckily we had a very good relationship with that neighbor).  I don’t think it was a surprise to anyone when I got my first cat – Sonoma – while I was in law school.  She was around 6 months old when I got her from the local shelter, but as the years passed she helped coach me through bar study, assisted in receiving rsvps for my wedding, and when kids entered the picture, she was the best big sister until she passed away at just over 11 years old.  She was my best friend for those 11 years.

So when I was finally ready to adopt another cat, I knew I was going back to the same shelter where I got Sonoma.  And in February of 2016, we welcomed Cupcake.  It would be fair to say that she settled into our home nicely.

But as happy as I was the day we adopted Cupcake, I couldn’t help be a little sad as we left the shelter.  It wasn’t even kitten season yet and the shelter was already at capacity.  It was nearly impossible to fight the desire to bring them all home and happily adopt the title of “Crazy Cat Lady”.  Unfortunately, my husband has a pretty strict 1 cat policy, so I only took Cupcake home that day, but I decided that my family needed to do more to help cats in need.

Since adopting Cupcake my family has gathered donations in our community, participated in walks, and made cat beds for the cat rooms at the shelter.  These may seem like very small things, but I’d like to believe that they are making a difference to the cats at the shelter.  And right now, there’s another way to help.  With every purchase of Cat’s Pride® Fresh & Light® cat litter (the one in the green jug), one pound of litter will be donated to animal welfare organizations across the USA.  You can also sign up for the free Cat’s Pride Club and nominate your local shelter to receive a litter donation.  That’s 2 ways to help, simply by purchasing something that’s already on your grocery list!  Thanks to Cat’s Pride, you don’t need to adopt them all because you can help cats one purchase at a time.

To learn more about the Cat’s Pride Litter for Good campaign be sure to check out their website.  And don’t forget to sign up for the free Cat’s Pride® Club to receive valuable coupons and incentives throughout the year, as well as updates on the program donations and shelter highlights.

What an amazing thing to do to get the family involved in helping cats at the shelter! <3

I never thought I'd be a cat lady myself, but Tiger is such a great addition to my life 😉
