How to Create the Ultimate Safari Experience at Walt Disney World

How to Create the Ultimate Safari Experience at Walt Disney WorldDisney is one of those places that has so many different experiences packed into one magical destination.  They’ve got princesses, pirates, and animals…so, so many animals.  My kids just love that they can take a safari right here in Florida!  So each time we visit, we plan out our own safari.  Here are just a few suggestions for putting together the ultimate safari experience at Disney:

Kilimanjaro Safari

This Animal Kingdom ride is a classic, and a great introduction to the safari experience at the park. Guests pile into an open jeep that takes you through the African savannah where you can see the animals in their daily lives, and have a little fun along the way. Staying true to the conservation efforts that led to Animal Kingdom being built, the ride focuses on protecting these beautiful animals from poachers.  This is a can’t miss if you’re headed to Animal Kingdom for the day!  My kids love this ride!

Animal Kingdom Lodge

For the ultimate safari experience it makes sense that you stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge during your Disney World stay. Here you can wake up to the sight of these beautiful animals and watch them throughout your day as you enjoy the resort. Guests here are also able to enjoy special VIP events and tours with the animals.  While we’ve visited Animal Kingdom Lodge numerous times, we’ve yet to get to stay at this wonderful resort.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Night Safari

For an extra special safari experience, guests of Animal Kingdom can book an exclusive night safari, and head out into the savannah. No one gets to enter the savannah after dark, so this is truly a unique experience. Guests are armed with night vision goggles and driven through the savannah where they can see what the animals are up to at night.

Wanyama Safari

For the ultimate safari and dinner experience, the Wanyama Safari is a great option that is open to guests of Animal Kingdom Lodge. The meal features African inspired options and takes you on a tour of the lodge and the small savannah that is kept at the lodge. Chefs and cultural representatives from Jiko work together to make sure that you have the most authentic experience possible.

Wild Africa Trek

The Wild Africa Trek is a unique experience that any guest of Disney would be excited to go on, and it gives you a great safari-like experience filled with close encounters. Guests take a treetop route over the African safari that Disney’s animals call home. The guided expedition lets you see animals in their habitat, gives you a bird’s eye view, and shares all about what it takes to keep the animals and their home possible.

Backstage Tales

For an insider’s view into how the animals day to day life looks, how the areas where they live are created, and tidbits about the animals that only their caretakers would know. This is a behind the scenes tour so be ready to experience the safari from an entirely new angle.  We got to do this a few years ago and it’s still one of my kids’ favorite safari experiences at Disney! How to Create the Ultimate Safari Experience at Disney WorldWhat’s your favorite safari experience at Walt Disney World?
