Sweet Treats: Conversation Heart Valentine’s Day Fudge

When I was little, I remember coming home from school on Valentine’s Day with tons of little boxes of candy conversation hearts.  It seemed that everyone gave them with their valentines cards.  They were fun to read and exchange and they doubled as a sweet snack.  They were absolute Valentine’s Day perfection…only problem was, I couldn’t eat anywhere near as many as I received.  Every year, we struggled to try and figure out what to do with them, but all too often they went to waste.

With not one, but three, Valentine’s Day classroom card exchanges on the horizon and those little conversation hearts still very much in circulation over twenty-something years later, I figured that this year I’d be prepared with a recipe.  An easy recipe that would solve the “problem” of what to do with all those extra conversation hearts.  A cute, fun, festive recipe that I will love just as much as my kids.  The result was an amazing white chocolate conversation heart fudge!  Best of all, it’s PINK!  And you can adjust the color to exact shade of pink that your valentine prefers.

So this year when your kids come home with a box full of those candy conversation hearts, be prepared with this Conversation Heart Valentine’s Day Fudge recipe!  YUM!

You will need:
2  1/2 cups white chocolate chips
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup candy conversation hearts
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2- 5 drops red food dye
Step 1 – Line 8×8 (or bigger) pan with parchment paper, and grease it.

Step 2 – Heat milk and vanilla over low- medium heat.  Once heated, stir in the chips.  Continue stirring and drop in 2-3 drops of red food dye.  Feel free to add more dye if you’d like your fudge to be a darker shade of pink.  Once you get the right color, stop adding dye and continue to stir.

Step 3 – Once chips are completely melted, remove from heat and gently fold in the candy hearts until evenly distributed.  Pour into the lined pan and spread evenly.

Step 4 – Refrigerate for at least 5 hours or overnight, if possible.

Step 5 – Lift fudge from pan by the parchment paper.  Use a pizza cutter (or serrated  knife), to cut fudge into desired sized pieces.Pink Conversation Heart Valentine's Day Fudge
See?  I told you it was easy!  And just wait until you taste it!  Enjoy!
