Mini Chocolate Christmas Trees: A Delicious DIY

Mini Chocolate Christmas Trees TutorialAs the holidays close in – and yes, sometimes it does feel a little more like “closing in” rather than “approaching” – I find myself with more treats to bake and less time to actually get baking done.  My kids’ school parties, the office holiday party, small family gatherings, they all need sweet treats (preferably Christmas themed treats, of course!), and I’m left stuck in the kitchen trying to figure out how to get it all done.  So when I see an easy recipe, I go for it…and that’s exactly what these Mini Christmas Trees are.

No cooking.  No baking.  No bother at all.  Do I have your attention yet?

To top it all off, they can be made in minutes and it’s easy to make tons of them at a time.  They’d even make a great topper to a cake or cupcake, if you are inclined to actually do some baking.  Or maybe put them outside your gingerbread house?  But if you’re a purist, it’s perfectly acceptable to eat them all by themselves…goodness knows I had a few samples myself.  They are simply decadent.  No matter what you decide to do with them, you can’t pass up this easy and delicious Christmas DIY project!

You will need:
Miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups
Regular Reese’s peanut butter cups
Hershey Kisses
Green/Red Frosting
Sprinkles

Step 1 – Start with a Miniature Reese’s peanut butter cup and lay it top down to act as the trunk.

Step 2 – Next put a spot of frosting on top to act as “glue” and place a regular sized Reese’s top down as the first layer of the tree and top with the Mini Reese’s.

Step 3 – Put another small dot of frosting on top of the Miniature Reeses and then with the Hershey’s Kiss.

Step 4 – Using green or red frosting (it’s best to get the writing icings from the store for this part), swirl it around your tree to give them some Christmas color.

Step 5 – Finish off with red and green sprinkles!  Or you could get the rainbow ball sprinkles to make it look like ornaments! Mini chocolate Christmas Trees Directions
