Let Juicy Fruit Bring Out Your Fun Side This Summer

I am far too aware that summer is dwindling away.  Greenleigh’s last week of camp is next week and kindergarten and preschool starts for both girls the week after.  I feel like as much as I fight summer’s arrival (mostly because of the blistering sun, intense heat, and swarms of bugs that invade South Florida), as soon as August hits, I’m doing everything I can to keep summer going.  So when the girls suggested we go to the beach last weekend, I thought, “Why not?”.  We needed to make a quick run through Walmart before we left to pick up a few essentials – being August we’re dreadfully low on sunscreen – and then we were on our way.  But as I was on my way out of the store I happened to see this Juicy Fruit display:

Just looking at the display reminded me of that sweet, chewy gum that I loved as a kid.  But when I looked a bit closer, I realized that this Juicy Fruit was different.  It was new.  I’d never seen Juicy Fruit in a canister before.  And a 5 pack of Juicy Fruit chunk gum?  They didn’t have that when I was a kid!  At the time, we were running a bit late so I bought some bubble gum and a canister of the Fruity Chews, threw them in my beach bag, and we were on our way. After about 20 minutes at the beach, as I was watching the girls play in the sand, I opened the bubble gum.  I remember the sticks as a kid, so a chunk of chewing gum was different, but one bite let me know that it was, in fact, the same Juicy Fruit gum.  Same sweet burst of flavor, same soft gum that’s easy to chew, and perfect for blowing bubbles!  I only wished I had picked up some of the Juicy Fruit Sweet Strawberry to try as well.

After 3 hours of fun at the beach, even the girls agreed that it was time to leave; we had certainly enjoyed our fun day at the beach.  On our way home, I opened the canister of Fruit Chews – which I let the girls try since they’re sugar free – only to be thrilled that I happened to pick up the strawberry.  The flavor is sweet and vibrant and lasted long after we got home.  Plus, the canister made it easy to share with the girls in the backseat and they liked being able to open and close it themselves from either the big or small dispenser.  The giggled as they chewed their gum and attempted to blow bubbles. 

I liked that the container was recyclable, which I plan to do once were done with all of the Fruity Chews…although that may be a while since every canister comes with 40 chews.  It will definitely take us a while to get through it.

I’ll admit, I was a little sad for our beach day was over.  We had a great day enjoying the sun, sand, and Juicy Fruit.  Lucky for us, summer temperatures tend to last far into the school year, so I doubt that this will be our only trip to the beach.   I’m going to keep my bags packed with Juicy Fruit, just in case we end up back at the beach!
