The Birthday Party Circuit

When Greenleigh was born, the number of birthday parties we were invited to increased exponentially.  Suddenly, we had a birthday party to attend every weekend, sometimes two.  One crazy weekend, we even had three, but there was no way to make it to all of them.  I love the entertainment they provide for the kids, but wow, do I get worn out by their social schedule!  Our friends tease that when they can’t get a hold of us on a weekend, it’s probably because we’re at a birthday party.

This weekend we had two parties to attend, but only one was for the girls (the other was for my boss and the girls did not attend).  The birthday party this week was at a local bounce house/slide indoor playground.  Considering it’s out of the sun and totally air conditioned, I see myself spending a whole lot of time there in the coming months.  The girls loved it. Hazeline can’t jump yet, but she took her turn in the toddler bounce house.  And of course, it was the toys that seemed to capture the most attention.  You know, almost the exact same toys we have at home.  Whatever. We went through lots and lots of tokens. We made a few new friends.  As long as they didn’t make a move towards her juice, Hazeline really liked these little girls.

Next week we only have one birthday party to attend…thank goodness.

I know what you mean about the birthday parties! It can definitely get tiring and busy! I’m a working mom too, and am happy to have found your blog 🙂

  2. Our schedule, esp this time of the year is packed up by birthday parties for my oldest son. I am fearful what happens when my daughter gets in on it too. While I first say this as an annoyance since our weekends are gone, I have learned it is a great opportunity to meet and spend time with other parents from my children’s daycare center. We don’t get to talk too often at drop off/pick up…but the parties, we can catch up. Even if it is just between running around! If I could just limit the birthday CAKE at the multiple parties on a saturday, that would be great. This past weekend, it was three parties on Saturday – eek!
