Can’t it be Halloween just a little bit longer?

This morning I walked into the girls’ daycare to find that they already had about 25% of the Halloween decorations taken down.  It was only 9:15!  The Rubbermaid bins were out and the Halloween decorations were being put away for another year.  After dropping the girls in their respective classes I walked into the office and teasingly said to the director, “It’s only November 1st!  No need to take down the Halloween decor just yet.”  To which she replied, “Time for Thanksgiving.”  She then assured me that when I picked the girls up at 6pm the entire place would be festively decorated for Thanksgiving.  I’m sure there are a plethora of reasons for taking the decorations down so quickly, but must it be over so soon?

I have problems parting with holidays and I often leave my decorations up at least one week after the holiday is over…and no need to talk about my Christmas tree that stayed up until Martin Luther King Day this year.  It makes me sad that pumpkins are all the rage one day and thrown in dumpsters the next.  Can’t we just bask in the afterglow for a while?  I think it should be mandatory.

Since I have you here, lets look at a few Halloween pictures I didn’t get a chance to post.

Pictures from the Halloween party at Greenleigh’s gym this past weekend:

They hung out with the Peanuts gang and waited for The Great Pumpkin:

Leaving for their party at daycare:

I’m really going to have to fight the urge to trick-or-treat tonight.

Hopping around blogs, and came across yours. It’s absolutely adorable! I love how sentimental you are. lol. I’m becoming the same way now that I have my twins. When they turn 1 next month I’m going to be so sad. No more “1st Holidays” 🙁

I know what you mean. When I dropped my daughter off at school this morning, the Halloween stuff was gone and Thanksgiving decorations were in place! And they were setting up for the first activity for the day; the kids were going to decorate turkeys. I felt like I had October whiplash or something hahah!

  5. Love your pictures!! My Halloween decorations tend to be more harvest-y, so I’m totally ok with leaving them up until Thanksgiving. 🙂 Although usually my desire for Christmas stuff takes over before then… My mom was always one to put up Christmas decorations as soon as my dad left for a week away deer hunting (November 15ish), but then she’d take them down December 26. I like to leave them up at least through New Year’s!

I totally agree I came home today looking at the pumpkins one that I carved on Halloween and said I am not ready to part yet. I will probably leave it up for a week. Christmas is the hardest to part with for me and with a new baby due 2 days before Christmas I’m sure our decorations will be up for a while. I am a new follower from the blog hop. Hope you have some time to check out my blog I am due with my first in December. Thismamascoop.com
