Mommy’s Little Helper

Greenleigh loves to help.  Unfortunately, Greenleigh’s definition of help is so much different than everyone else’s.  While I’m glad that she wants to help, it normally ends in more work for me.

Earlier this week we were eating dinner when Hazeline started to fuss.  I knew she was overdue to eat, so I got up from the table to make a bottle.  As I walked towards the kitchen counter to grab a bottle, Greenleigh came with me…I suppose in an effort to supervise.  Because clearly I am new to making bottles.  Instead I suggested that she should go over to Hazeline and keep her company while I mixed the bottle.  Thrilled to have a job, she ran over and I hear the following dialogue –

Greenleigh: Baby, bottle, okay?  Okay baby?

Hazeline:  WAAAAHHHHH!

Greenleigh:  Baby okay.  Wait baby.

Hazeline:  WAAAAAHHHHH!

Greenleigh:  Baby, bottle?  Okay?

Hazeline: (Quiet)

I then looked up from the bottle I had been mixing and found her petting Hazeline on the head like a dog.  I guess she really did help this time, so who am I to judge her method?

Lol I hear you. My 3 year old is always trying to be helpful, especially now that I’m pregnant. Thanks for following Mommy Time Out. I didn’t see anyway to follow you back, let me know how I can.

  4. What a great little helper you’ve got! You have to admit that Greenleigh’s language is a lot closer to Hazeline’s than yours is ;o) And never underestimate a good pat on the shoulder (or head).
