The holiday season is officially here!  Thanksgiving is less than 3 weeks away and Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Years are right behind it.  I can’t wait.  But with all the hustle and bustle that the holiday season brings with it, it’s easy to forget about taking care of yourself.  Here are 5 easy ways to take better care of yourself this holiday season:

Moderation is key.  Food is often front and center when it comes to holiday gatherings, but that doesn’t mean it’s good for you.  While the options can be tempting, try to exercise moderation, especially when it comes to cakes, cookies, and other sweets…your body will thank you later!

Take a day off.  Lets face it, the holiday season is packed with events.  Every day will bring another party or holiday must-do, but accepting every invitation is sure to leave you run down and tired, which can leave you vulnerable to illness.  The holiday season only comes once a year, but it’s okay to say no.  Try looking over the calendar each week and select the events that you want or need to attend, then make sure to plan some time to rest and take care of yourself on the days without events.

Water, water, and more water.  Okay, so it’s not going to be on the list of signature drinks at the office holiday party, but don’t skip the water.  Staying hydrated will keep your body feeling good and able to keep up with the hectic holiday schedule.

Take your vitamins & supplements.  If you’re not already taking vitamins, the holidays are a great time to start!  Best of all, you can pick up Nature Made® vitamins at your local Walmart while doing your holiday shopping.  No need for a second stop or extra trip to the drug store!nature-made-in-store

But sometimes a multivitamin isn’t enough; your body needs more of specific vitamins, minerals, or supplements.  Nature Made® is the #1 Pharmacist Recommended brand for many key dietary supplement categories*.  Nature Made® has a variety of vitamins, minerals and supplements (VMS) to help support nutritional gaps with your health goals in mind ranging from Digestive Support, Heart Health & Function, Energy Metabolism, Women’s Health and much more!†   Nature Made® vitamins and supplements: An easy, convenient way to help your body get the nutritional support it needs every day, whether it be to support bone health, immune health or energy metabolism (helping convert food into energy).†nature-made-supplements

Supplements can be something you take everyday or when you feel you need them.  For example, I take Iron because I’m slightly anemic, but I only take Vitamin C and Zinc when I’m feel run down or sick.  My husband takes Vitamin D everyday for a healthy immune system, bones, and teeth.  For the supplement is best for you, check with your health care professional.

Sneak a little exercise into your schedule.  Those gyms that will be busy in January, tend to be pretty empty around the holidays.  If you can’t get to the gym, try to find ways to exercise on the go by taking the stairs more often, 20-30 minute home workouts in the morning before anyone else is up, or even just playing outside with your kids.  Anything to get active will help in the long run.
