Easy Ways to Prevent and Treat Diaper Rash {+Giveaway!}

The information, products, gift card, and giveaway have been provided to me by Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. All thoughts and opinions are my own.easy-ways-to-treat-prevent-diaper-rash

As a new mom, I worried when my baby had a diaper rash.  I remember calling the pediatrician frantically asking for advice and calling back when it didn’t go away as quickly as I thought it should.  But the reality is, diaper rash is something that every new parent has to deal with at some point in time.  Luckily there are some very easy ways to prevent and treat diaper rash.  Here are a few of the things I wish I knew as a new parent:

Don’t trust just any diaper cream.  Let’s face it, there are tons of diaper creams out there.  When I was a new mom I was overwhelmed by the choices, so I asked a friend what she used.  When she responded Boudreaux’s Butt Paste, I giggled a little.  But after giving it a try, I quickly realized she wasn’t kidding.  Boudreaux’s Butt Paste was the secret weapon against diaper rash that I’d been missing.  I felt even better about choosing Boudreaux’s Butt Paste when I learned that it is free of the harsh butt-irritating ingredients like Parabens, Preservatives, Dyes, Phthalates and Talc ingredients included in some diaper rash ointments.boudreauxs-paste-varieties

Apply diaper cream any time your baby will be in a diaper for an extended period of time.  Diaper rash occurs when moisture is allowwaied to stay on the skin for an extended period of time, so it makes sense that changing your baby’s diaper frequently is the key to winning the war against diaper rash.  But if you’re baby is sleeping extended periods of time, you would be able to change their diaper all night long which means the moisture will sit on their skin until they wake.  To solve this situation, make using Original Boudreaux’s Butt Paste part of your regular nightly routine.  By using it every night, you’ll decrease your baby’s chance of getting a rash.   I also recommend using Boudreaux’s Butt Paste for every diaper change when you’re traveling or any other time where regular diaper changes could be difficult.

Go natural.  If your baby has diaper rash, try to avoid wipes that might have soap, fragrances, or irritating chemicals in them.  Instead, use washcloths or other soft cloths that have been rinsed in luke warm water to wipe your baby’s bottom.  Once the area has been cleaned, apply All Natural Boudreaux’s Butt Paste, which in addition to 16% Zinc Oxide, this has been formulated with natural soothing and calming ingredients like Aloe Vera to soothe skin.boudreauxs-butt-pasteA little fresh air will  help.  One of the best things for diaper rash is to allow air to access the area where the rash exists.  Since you probably don’t want your baby to go without a diaper for an extended period of time, make the most of your diaper changes.  When changing your baby, allow their diaper to stay off for 5-10 minutes before placing them in a new diaper (although I highly recommend laying a diaper open under your baby’s bottom and placing a clean, dry washcloth over boys to prevent accidents).  Once you’ve allowed the area to air out, apply Boudreaux’s and fasten your child’s diaper.  It might only be 5-10 minutes at every change, but by the end of the day that could be 30-60 minutes, which will aid in clearing the rash.

Use diaper cream regularly at first sight of rash.  Diaper rash can get out of control quickly, so it’s best to treat it immediately and continue treating it until it’s resolved.  Instead of only using diaper cream before bed, use Maximum Strength Boudreaux’s Butt Paste at every diaper change at the first signs of a rash.  Maximum Strength Boudreaux’s Butt Paste contains 40% Zinc Oxide for over two times the rash fighting power as the Original Formula.  Once rash is cleared up, you can go back to only using Original Boudreaux’s Butt Paste before bed.boudreauxs-pasteKnow when to get help.  If your baby’s rash begins to blister or puss drains from the rash, it’s time to call the doctor.  Other signs for alarm are a rash that doesn’t go away after several days of treatment, fever, or a rash that spreads to other areas of the body.
