5 Must Have Summer Beauty Products for Working Moms

Must Have BeautyIt’s normal to adopt a more casual look over the summer, but if you’re still heading into an office each day, chances are that bathing suit and wide-brimmed hat are going to push the boundaries of what would be considered business casual.  Likewise, you can’t just toss makeup to the side for sunscreen and tanning oil.  Summer’s heat often requires minor modifications to my normal beauty routine, so I thought this would be the perfect time to share my 5 must have summer beauty products for working moms.  Here are the things I can’t live without this summer:

Primer – Primer often gets the reputation for being too heavy, and therefore is the first to be ditched when it comes to warmer temperatures, but that’s not true!  Many primers contain SPF, which you need for the summer sun, along with added vitamins and antioxidants.  Best of all, the right primer will insure that your makeup won’t run, slide, or melt off your face when the temperature hit the high double digits…or dare I say, triple digits?  Instead of ditching primer altogether, look for a lightweight primer like Mary Kay Foundation Primer Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15 which also provides the sun protection you need.Mary Kay Primer

Lip Shimmer – Add some shine to your summer lips with Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Shimmer.  Not only will you be nourishing and moisturizing your lips with Vitamin E and Beeswax, but by selecting on of the 14 different flavors you’ll be adding a tint of color too.  It’s perfect to combat the summer sun and heat, while still adding that touch of color for your presentation at work.

Body Butter – Hydration is the key to great summer skin, so don’t skimp on the body butter during your nightly routine.  One of my absolute favorites is The Body Shop Mega Body Butter in Pink Grapefruit, mostly for its rich buttery texture.  But besides having a great scent and providing 24 hour moisture for normal to dry skin, this  this body butter is enriched with Shea butter and cocoa butter to keep your skin soft and hydrated.  It smells great and will help prevent and treat dry summer skin.jumbo-pink-grapefruit-body-butter_l

Blush – Just because summer is a time for tans, doesn’t mean you should overlook your cheeks.  A little bit of color can go a long way when it comes to blush and can give you a more professional look.  If you’re budget conscious, like I am, try the JORDANA Color Tint Blush Stick. This awesome, affordable (at about $6) blush stick is perfect to throw in your purse and take with you, no matter what the day throws at you.

Waterproof Eyeliner – Ugh.  The raccoon eyes of summer.  Seriously, how many times have you left your house looking picture perfect only to return, look in the mirror, and realize you resembled a raccoon for most of those errands you just ran?  We’ve all been there.  While waterproof mascara is a must, don’t forget the waterproof eyeliner.  My sister absolutely swears by Mary Kay Eyeliner – having tested it out for years during her multiple triathons – and Sephora Waterproof Eyeliner is another moderately priced option.

Blotting papers – If you’ve never used them before, blotting papers come in small little packets or envelopes you can put in your pocket or purse. If your makeup gets oily or your face gets sweaty, you can just blot (don’t rub) to maintain your flawless look.  They’re very wallet friend too at less than $10 for 100, and come in natural varieties as well!  These Natural Oil Blotting Sheets are a steal at just $7.99!
