Snacks for your Minions Fans: Minion Popcorn {Recipe}

Minion Popcorn InstructionsMinion mania continues in our house.  I’m not sure that this phase will last quite as long as the Frozen phase, but it sure is giving it a good run for its money.  Because before my kids even finished scarfing down the Minions Frozen Yogurt Bark I made last week (which was very aptly deemed “the coolest thing ever” by my kids), they requested more Minion food.  More?  Really?  I really hadn’t planned on this being a series…  Perhaps, I’m a sucker for those adorable little Minions or maybe I’m just so happy that we’re finally celebrating a character who isn’t a princess, but I decided to indulge them.  My mind raced with the yellow and blue possibilities, but in the end, I selected the easiest of all the options – Minion Popcorn!Minion Popcorn Snack Ingredients

Because, popcorn wins the hearts of my kids every. single. time.  They’d eat it for breakfast, if I’d let them (Wait. I have.).  Anyway, I added a little blue and yellow flare to one of their favorite snacks and it was a hundred times better.  I’ll admit, I had a sample or two or three myself before turning it over to the kids, who devoured it.  I even caught Hazeline sneaking back into the kitchen for an extra handful once or twice.  Helpful hint: Keep this stuff up high, it’s addictive.Minion Popcorn Snack

You will need:
Popcorn
Candy melts, blue
Sprinkles, blue & yellow
Candy eyes (which can bee found on Amazon or in your local craft store)

Step 1 – Pop popcorn in the microwave as directed – and be careful not to burn it!  Remove the popcorn from the microwave and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.  You want the popcorn hot, but not too hot or the chocolate will slide right off.

Step 2 – Melt the candy melts in the microwave while the popcorn is cooling.  Once smooth, pour the melted chocolate into a plastic bag.

Step 3 – Pour one-half of the popcorn into your serving bowl.  Cut a small hole in one of the corners of the plastic bag filled with melted chocolate and drizzle over the popcorn.  Sprinkle the chocolate with the blue and yellow sprinkles.

Step 4 – Pour the remaining amount of popcorn into your serving bowl (on top of the first half), drizzle with chocolate, and top with blue and yellow sprinkles.  Before serving (and before the chocolate begins to harden), place Minion candy eyes on top of the chocolate.Minion Popcorn Snack for Kids
