There’s a war raging in my house.  It’s me against the laundry…and I’m not winning.  I gained a little ground last month while my mom was here to help out, but after a trip to Chicago, a busy race weekend, and girls wanting to wear dresses for all of 2 hours before demanding a new outfit, we’re right back where we started.  In fact, it might be worse.

How does it get out of control like this?

I mean, the piles and piles of laundry that greet me at the laundry room door each day are just daunting.  The amount of detergent we go through is insane.  And don’t even get me started on how many socks we lose to the washer and dryer when the laundry does get done.  I’m 100% positive that my dryer digests a healthy dose of socks.  But despite all these issues, the laundry must get done.  It must.  (I recite that last part to myself whenever I consider just going out and buying all new clothes instead of doing laundry…it’s crossed my mind.)

So needless to say, I was thrilled to see a demonstration for Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ in-wash scent booster while I was at Walmart picking up detergent this weekend.Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ demo

You see, a long time ago I didn’t understand the importance of an in-wash scent booster.  Actually, I received a sample of a scent booster at a conference 2 years ago, threw it in my bag, and promptly forgot about it for at least a year.  Until, that is, I was attempting to clean out all that conference swag and found the sample.  I dusted it off, opened it up, and I’ve never gone back.  The whole idea of an in-wash scent booster being an unnecessary laundry “add-on”?  Not in my house.    This is one of those times when I am happy to admit – I. Was. So. Wrong.  In-wash scent boosters are now a regular part of my laundry routine, so someone offers me an in-wash scent booster that bosts 5x longer lasting fragrance and 2 scents (Field Flowers and Lavender), I take it pretty seriously.Suavitel Fragrance Pearls

Armed with Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ and Suavitel® liquid fabric conditioner, I headed home to tackle my laundry and from the minute I opened them, I could tell it was true.  These Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ were going to improve my laundry experience…okay, so it still might not be fun to do, but it was going to smell a lot better when I was done with it.  And that’s something a mom can feel good about.  Because what good is doing the laundry if it doesn’t smell clean when you’re done?Suavitel Fragrance Pearls with laundry

Since I made major headway in the war against laundry this weekend thanks to Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ and Suavitel® liquid fabric conditioner, I decided to tackle my lost sock problem too.  Hey, I was on a roll.  Why not?

I’d seen something like this on a plaque at a craft fair a while back, but worried that my writing wouldn’t quite be pretty enough.  So instead, I made it a picture frame and attached a few clothes pins.  Laundry Day Lost Sock OrganizerNow all those pesky socks will stay put while I pry the others from out of the dryer!

You will need:
11″x14″ Unfinished wooden picture frame with glass (11″x14″ frame with a 8″x10″ picture opening)
Acrylic black paint
Small & large clothes pins
Mod Podge (I used glossy, but any kind should work)
“Clean, Single & Looking for a Mate” printable, found HERE
Paint brushes
Hot glue
Wax paper
TapeClean Single and Looking for a Mate Supplies

Step 1 – Cover the front and sides of the picture frame with two coats of black paint.  Allow a couple hours for it to dry completely.

Step 2 – Cover 5 small clothes pins and 2 large clothes pins with one coat of black paint.  When doing this, I recommend that you pinch the clothes pin open and paint inside before closing it back up and doing the other side.  Try to cover all of the clothes pin, including the inside and metal spring parts.  Dry completely.

Step 3 – Once frame and clothes pins are completely dry, seal the frame by covering it with one coat of Mod Podge, paying particular attention when covering the corners and edges.  After the frame has been covered, cover the front and sides of the clothes pins (the part that you will be able to see when it’s hanging on the wall) with Mod Podge.  Dry by placing  And don’t worry, Mod Podge goes on looking white, but will dry clear.

Step 4 – When the Mod Podge is dry, take the print “Clean, Single & Looking for a Mate” printable and place it in your frame behind the glass.  It should fit the 8″x10″ opening perfectly.  Using the tape, secure the printable to the glass and close the back of the frame.

Step 5 – Turn the frame over and place the clothes pins on the front of the frame.  I placed two of my smaller clips at the top, then two bigger ones on the sides at the bottom with three small ones in the middle, but you can do any order that you’d like.  Remember, the big pins should be able to hold 2-3 single socks, while the smaller clips will only be able to accommodate one sock.  Once you have the clips where you want them, hot glue them to the frame.  Mod Podge the backs of the clips so they are sealed to the frame.Clean Single Looking for a Mate Frame in process

Step 6 – Optional – If your frame needs a hanger (mine was intended to be only a stand frame), use tape to secure the frame stand and then hot glue a string to the back of the frame so it can be put on the wall.
