Host a Creation Celebration and Give Back with Champions for Kids & Fiskars!

Disclosure: I participated in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids, Fiskars and The Motherhood.  All opinions are my own.

Since having kids, I’ve been invited to tons of playdates.  And I never turn down an invite – who wouldn’t want a chance to tire out their kids a little before nap/bedtime?  But when my friend Erica invited me to a playdate 2 weeks ago, I knew it was going to be pretty special.  The activities and snacks she had planned for the kids were amazing.  She had just about everything covered…except the crafts.  When she mentioned it to me, I immediately agreed to help out.  Because what’s a playdate without a little creative time?  Plus, I’d been looking for a reason to throw a Creation Celebration.

You see, about a month ago, I heard about a partnership between Champions for Kids, Fiskars, and The Motherhood, encouraging people to host creative celebrations (or “Creation Celebrations”), gather and donate art supplies, and share their story for a chance to win a gift basket full of Fiskars school and crafting supplies.  The idea is to give in your own community – to a teacher, social worker, or organization that caters to children who may not have adequate art supplies.  The supplies bought in your community, stay in your community.  And by sharing your story, you get a chance to win.  I thought that this playdate would be the perfect opportunity to craft and spread the word, not to mention to gather some craft supplies to donate to my daughter’s school.

Since most of the kids at the playdate were going to be between 3 and 6 years old, I made sure to pick up several pairs of Fiskars safety scissors, along with paper, string, beads, glue, and crayons.  The older kids would create beaded bracelets while the younger ones would create their own Olaf.  The kids thought it was great!fiskars_craft_tablefiskars_craft_eventfiskars_playdate And in the end, we gathered lots of supplies for my daughters school.

Need inspiration for your own Creation Celebration?  Check out their website for crafting ideas and how to get involved!  And don’t forget to ask your guests to bring supplies and share your story.  Because the keep is to keep the creativity going!Fiskarsl-masthead-web-700x296
