Johnson’s Fulfills Their Promise to Moms & Babies

I’ve been pretty honest about the fact that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing when Greenleigh was born.  As a new mom I was totally overwhelmed by this new little person who had just entered the world.  I clearly remember sitting on the hospital bed waiting to be discharged and saying to my mom on the other end of the phone, “We have no idea what we’re doing, but we’re just going to do our best.”  Later that night we were discharged and we went home to do just that – our very best for our new baby.  Now 5 years later, we’ve continued keep that promise.  Sure, we’re more confident parents after 5 years and 3 children, but that promise to baby that we made a little over 5 years ago sitting in that hospital room remains the same.  We want to do our best as parents, so our kids will have the best.GreenleighHospital

As a new mom, I was a little concerned when I heard that some baby products have less than the best ingredients in them, namely preservatives and harsh chemicals.  I wondered why these types of ingredients were in baby products and worried about the affects that they could have on my baby.  Why put such ingredients in products that touch such delicate skin?  And these concerns only intensified as I batted eczema with Hazeline.  I remember scouring the shelves for more natural products and reading labels until I went cross-eyed.  But again, it was worth it, because I had a promise to keep.

And I wasn’t alone.  There were tons of other moms (grandmas, aunts, caregivers, etc.) out there with the same concerns.  They had made same promise.

But Johnson’s Baby made a promise too – a promise not only to the moms that buy their products, but the babies that use them.  And after listening to concerned parents, Johnson’s Baby made the decision to reformulate their products.  While never concerned about the safety of their products, Johnson’s Baby was concerned about moms and their peace of mind.  As a company, they sat down and listened to those who called, emailed, and contacted them by social media.  And in response they set up a plan to reformulate their products, to rid them of ingredients that worried parents.  JOHNSON'S Baby

The newly reformulated products include JOHNSON’S® Baby HEAD-TO-TOE® Wash (my personal favorite!), JOHNSON’S® Baby Lotion, JOHNSON’S® Baby Shampoo, JOHNSON’S® Baby Shampoo & Conditioner for Thick and Curly Hair, JOHNSON’S® Baby Shampoo & Conditioner for Thin and Straight Hair, JOHNSON’S® Baby Shampoo with Calming Lavender, and JOHNSON’S® Baby Soothing Vapor Baby Bath.  These products are now free of formaldehyde-releasing preservatives and parabens.

To symbolize the delivery of their promise to babies and moms around the globe by their reformulated products, Johnson’s employees and their families came together to fold 1,000 origami storks.  According to Japanese legend, the folding of 1,000 paper cranes will result in a wish granted or promise fulfilled.  Since Johnson’s Baby is all about babies they changed the cranes to storks, including a personal promise within each one.  The storks were then connected and put into a hanging display that’s suspended in their office.   It’s a visual display of the promise that they’ve fulfilled to both mom and baby.  You can see the full video here:

I love that they reformulated their products. They are a brand that I like anyway and I really appreciate how they listen.

  2. Dede says:

Wow, I am excited that they are paraben-free. I might buy it for myself to use!!!!

  3. I think it’s nice that they listened to the consumers. I’ve used their Naturals line and liked it, but it’s nice to know that the reformulated “traditional” products are safer than ever. The shampoo for thick & curly hair sounds appealing to me personally, maybe I’ll give it a shot! 🙂

  4. Sharon L. says:

Glad they reformulated! I haven’t bought any of their products for my kids but might have to try the soothing vapor bath.

I used Johnsons too and I like how gentle their products are for the little ones. Until now, I am still using it.
