So today is the day…well, it was supposed to be at least. Greenleigh woke up excited that it was the day “for baby brother to come out”, but alas, that hasn’t happened – yet. Today’s doctor’s appointment was promising though, and it appears that I’ve gone from barely dilated to nearly 4 cm. Hazeline is predicting the big day will be tomorrow, which I suppose is as good a guess as any. We shall see!
How far along: 40 Weeks & 0 Days
This week, baby is the size of a: Jackfruit! Anyone know what that is? Never heard of it… But the doctor still estimating him closer to 6 pounds than 8 pounds, so yay for that.
Next appointment: I don’t have one. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Saturday morning to check fluid levels, and eviction – I mean, induction – scheduled for Monday. Eeek. So ready and so not ready all at the same time.
Total weight gain/loss: Still up 15 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight, which is crazy with the way I’m eating. Seriously, my meals and snacks are insane.
Maternity clothes: Yes! Trying to get the last few uses out of my maternity jeans that I absolutely love…I’ll actually miss them when this pregnancy is over. But who says you have to ditch the stretchy waistbands right away? Don’t judge.
Sleep: I’m completely exhausted all the time. It’s like first trimester exhaustion all over again. But I’m sleeping okay at night, so at least there’s that.
Food cravings: Chocolate Frostys and cheeseburgers. Mmmmm.
Food aversions: None at this point – finally!
Symptoms: I’ve actually had some very mild contractions today, which is pretty new (and promising!). Other than that, lots of pressure, heartburn all time time, and occasional nausea. Not sure why the nausea is back, but maybe it’s a good sign too?
Movement: Yes – pressure, turning, punching – and it all feels much lower than it did last week.
What I miss: My feet. I thought my cankle would have gone away by now, but no such luck. It causes lots of pain when I walk and I’m so over it.
What I’m loving: I love freaking people out by telling them when I’m due. For some reason, it makes people really uneasy to have a pregnant woman in their office/place of business on their due date…I’ve been rushed through the bank, restaurants, the vet’s office, the dry cleaners, and a ton of other places. Normally I’m against abuse of the Pregnancy Card, especially by others, but in this case, it’s just funny. Tomorrow, I’m using the overdue card. Can’t wait.
What I’m looking forward to: My manicure & pedicure tomorrow. And meeting this little guy in the next few days, of course!
Best moment this week: Actually, it’s been a pretty great week overall. I’ve had time to run errands, hang out with my kids, and spend time with my husband. We’ve really been enjoying our last days as a family of 4. I haven’t gotten all the naps I wanted and my massage was a total bust, but I’m okay with that.
Goals: Have this baby!
