Monthly Surprises from Citrus Lane!

My girls absolutely love surprises.  I can’t tell you how many times a week Greenleigh runs up to me with something “hidden” behind her back, begging me to guess what it is.  And as much as they love to surprise others, they love to be surprised.  But me?  Well, I’m not good with surprises.  I lack the time to plan.  If I do try tosurprise them, they often find the surprises before I even get the chance to give it to them.  And if I’m lucky enough to be able to plan it out and hide them well, I have a problem keeping it from them because I’m so excited and want to tell them right away.  So when I heard about Citrus Lane, it sounded like the perfect solution.

If you’ve never heard of Citrus Lane, they’re a monthly subscription service for kids.  Subscriptions start at just $21 per month and each box is specifically geared towards your child’s gender, age, and stage.  All products are mom approved and shipping is always free.  Essentially, it’s a box of surprises for your kids each month.  How fun is that?

Knowing that I have 2 little girls that love surprises, the nice people at Citrus Lane put together a box just for us.  So what came in my September box from Citrus Lane?  Glad you asked!

  • Driving My Tractor Puzzle from Barefoot Books
  • ARTivity Book (with markers) from Creativity for Kids
  • Cheddar Bunnies from Annie’s
  • Adhesive Bandages from Ouchies Jr.
  • All Natural Hand Sanitizing Wipes from CleanWell
  • FabKids Free Trial Offer
I can honestly say that every single thing in this box was a hit.  My girls dove right into the Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies as they explored all the goodies in the brightly colored box, and were naturally drawn to the ARTivity book and bandages first…because what kid doesn’t love bandages?  I’m pretty sure my girls believe they are stickers for your skin (even though I’ve done everything to discourage that notion).  But I think it was the Barefoot Books Puzzle that was their favorite.  As it turns out, it actually contained not one, but two puzzles – one 12 piece and one 24 piece – both of which were perfect for Greenleigh at 4 years old.  The 12 piece puzzle was even a little above Hazeline’s level, but they worked on it together and it was fun to watch.
Needless to say they weren’t as excited about the sanitizing wipes, but this mom was – I can always use those!   But what I liked even more than the goodies contained in the box, was that most came with a promo code if I wanted to purchase more of a particular item.  For example, I can save 20% off my next purchase from Barefoot Books or 20% off my next purchase from CleanWell.  Essentially, the monthly subscription box allows me to try items and then gives me an additional discount if I want to order more.  Love that!

Overall, I think the value of this box is actually pretty great, especially when you consider that the puzzle alone sells on Amazon for $13.49 + shipping and the FAB Kids offer is worth $39.95!  And while these might not have been things that I ordinarily would have picked up on my own, I think that’s the beauty of it – they were surprises and my kids loved them.  Now that my kids are familiar with the yellow stripe on the Citrus Lane box, I highly suspect the next one of these boxes that arrives at my house will be ripped open pretty quickly!
