Rematch

Before Erajh and I got married, we went over to visit my grandmother on the west coast of Florida.  She had been sick for a while and was in the hospital, so we went over to keep her company…because being in the hospital, especially by yourself, is not so fun.  We spent tons of time with her, but after the second full day, she begged us to go out spend time somewhere other than in a hospital.  Grudgingly, we went out to get something to eat and happened to see a mini-golf course on the way back.  We decided to stop and play a game.

That game would soon become the most contested game in mini-golf history.  Having quite the background in mini-golf, I won.  Erajh accused me of cheating (which I didn’t) and I accused him of cheating (’cause he did).  We returned to the hospital bickering over who “really won” (me), and who was a sore loser (him).  My grandmother played referee, which was surprisingly the best I’d seen her look the entire weekend.  Erajh demanded a rematch; I agreed.  We made my grandmother promise to get better so she could come and referee our mini-golf rematch.

While my grandmother did get better and get out of the hospital, she never made it out on the mini-golf course to referee one of our games (she passed away in 2010).  In fact, I don’t think we’ve even played mini-golf since that game.

Today was our rematch.  And the girls came with us to play their very first round of mini-golf.Hazeline got tired and sat out the last couple holes, but Greenleigh really seemed to enjoy herself…although her form, stance, and swing definitely need work.

In the end, Erajh won by 1 stroke.  Naturally, I let him win – it was Father’s Day after all.  Best gift ever, right?

How did you spend Father’s Day?

Sound like your family has a healthy competitive streak, as does ours. Our family loves board games and card games. Things become quite lively when we’re in action.

I hadn’t even thought of board games (our girls aren’t quite old enough for that yet) – that will be sheer madness!

  2. LOL! Awesome. We, unfortunately, spent Father’s Day sick, but at least we were together.

Oh no! So sorry to hear that you’re family was sick. I hope everyone is on the mend soon!

Well yeah you had to let him win, it was father’s day after all ;). I love mini golf. I’m terrible at it, but I love it ;). Although last summer I did get a hole in one on the final hole which is like next to impossible to do and you win a free game if you do it. I totally got bragging rights for that even if I did lose the game ;).

We didn’t do much of anything for Father’s day. My husband had to work. I baked him his favorite cookies. He wanted Chinese for dinner. I’m not a fan of Chinese food, but we had Chinese for dinner ;).

I actually made a hole in one and then it jumped right out of the hole. Even my husband agreed I was robbed!
