What’s for Dinner: Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wraps with the Ozeri Green Earth Pan {Recipe & Review}

Ah yes, the morning sickness has subsided a bit and I’m back to cooking…well, kinda.  I’m still a bit picky about what I eat and as always, I’m short on time.  But when Ozeri sent me this amazing Green Earth Pan, I was suddenly like, “Hmmm…what’s for dinner?  I should cook something!”.  You see, the Ozeri pan is a textured, ultra-nonstick pan that utilizes a ceramic coating that is completely free of PTFE and PFOA (no heavy metals or chemicals).  So unlike many other pans, no harmful toxic fumes are ever released into the environment – even under the highest temperatures.  And on top of all of that, it’s made of high quality aluminum which boasts quicker heating and more even temperatures during the cooking process.  Quick, even cooking, good for the environment, and easy to clean – I’m in!

So with a vague recollection of my resolution to try new recipes this year, I went on the “What’s for Dinner” recipe hunt.  It needed to be easy.  It needed to be delicious.  And it needed to be something made with chicken (apparently that’s the only thing that agrees with me this pregnancy).  Since heartburn has yet to be an issue I decided to live it up and selected a Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wrap Recipe, that I tweeked just a little.  Here’s the recipe, followed by some thoughts on the Ozeri Green Earth Pan.

You will need:

1 lb. chicken breast cut into strips (or you can take the easy way out and just buy 1 lb of chicken tenderloins)

2/3 cup Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce, divided into one-third portions

1/4 cup chunky blue cheese salad dressing

4-6 large tortillas

Shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Cooking spray

Gallon size Ziplock bag

Optional, but highly recommended:

Diced celery

Diced onion

Diced tomato

Romaine lettuce

Step 1 – Rinse chicken under cool water, pat dry, and place inside one gallon size ziplock bag.  Pour one-third cup of the buffalo wing sauce into the ziplock bag and manipulate the bag to make sure that all the chicken gets covered with sauce.  Zip the bag closed, removing as much air as possible, and place in the fridge to marinate.  I marinated my chicken for about 6 hours to really lock in the flavor, but it’s up to you – anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours should do the trick.  Once you’re ready to eat, remove the ziplock bag from the fridge.

Step 2 – Heat pan to medium-high heat.  Once heated, coat with a small amount of cooking spray (if you’re using an Ozeri pan, you might not need any at all).  Place chicken in the frying pan and cook until there’s no pink in the center of the chicken.

Step 3 – In a small bowl, combine remaining 1/3 cup buffalo sauce with blue cheese dressing.  Mix well.

Step 4 – Remove chicken from pan and place into the buffalo & blue cheese dressing mixture.  Coat well.  I actually cut my chicken up into smaller pieces (before I removed it from the pan) to make this part easier, but you could always leave the chicken in strip form if you prefer it that way.

Step 5 – Place tortilla on a plate and microwave for 10-15 seconds.  Remove from microwave and fill with Romaine, onion, celery, tomato, and anything else you’d like.  Top with chicken coated in the buffalo & blue cheese dressing mixture and shredded cheese.

Fold and serve with fries!  Oh, and make sure to have a napkin handy – these can get messy! These wraps were delicious and are definitely going on our list of “must make again” recipes, but what really shined was the Ozeri pan.  Wow!  Think of the stickiest mess you’ve ever created in a pan.  Then think about how you spent forever trying to scrap and soak it clean.  Now imagine it took you 5 seconds to clean – that’s the Ozeri Green Earth Pan.  Nothing sticks to it!

Although I barely noticed the textured bottom of the pan before putting my chicken in, within minutes it became apparent that it’s the key to making the pan work.  Not only did I find that my food cooked faster and more evenly than in my other pans, those waffle like indentions on the bottom on the bottom of the Ozeri pan create air pockets which distribute heat underneath food to enhance cooking performance.  Not only does it ensure faster, more even cooking, but more importantly, when coupled with the ceramic coating it makes this pan a snap to clean.  I actually made two sets of wraps, which meant that I had to clean the pan between sets.  Quite frankly, this is a step I typically dread.  But with this pan?  All I had to do was use the end of the spatula to gently scrap the what was remaining after the first batch (mostly just the marinade that came off the chicken and ended up in the pan), and put the chicken on for the second set.  No washing, rinsing, or soaking.  It took a few seconds, tops.  I didn’t even need to use cooking spray for the second batch, which is truly amazing because I hardly used any with the first set of wraps.  And for me, less cooking oil/spray is always a good thing.  Best of all, this pan comes with a full warranty, so if I ever have problems in the future, all I have to do is contact Ozeri for help.  Satisfaction is guaranteed! If your looking for some new pans, definitely make sure to check out Ozeri!  You can find them on Amazon!
