Pony Royale: Princess Ponies Living in Royal Fashion {Review}

This post is sponsored by Pony Royale. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

While baby dolls freak me out, there are things that I love about having girls – cute clothes, hair bows, tea parties, and of course, their inevitable love of ponies.  Based on my infatuation with ponies as a kid and my owning/riding horses, I’m pretty sure my girls are going to fall into the pony loving crowd.  And I plan to do everything I can to encourage it, just short of signing a stabling agreement for a real horse, because lets face it, that’s a pricey hobby.  That’s why Pony Royale the perfect toy for us right now.

The ponies of Pony Royale are princess ponies, each born with a special jewel in their head.  There are 12 ponies total, each one representing a different month and birthstone.  They are from a magical place called The Land of Pony Royale, which is separated into 4 different kingdoms: Earth, Air, Water, and Fire.  But the thing that makes these ponies extra special is their change-it-up manes and tails that can be removed and traded to create a whole new look – each pony comes with 2 mane and tail options, and additional hair packs are available to be purchased separately.  Being princess ponies, they are the very high point of fashion in the equine world, coming with fancy saddles, crowns, and accessories.  Check out the hoof bling on the pony in the picture below (hoof on the right, it’s a pink flower)!

I love trying new toys, but seldom am I more excited about a toy than my kids.  I was out-of-my-skin excited when this box arrived.  Greenleigh asked me what was in it and I told her there were ponies inside.  At that moment, she needed to have the box opened…immediately.  She began to help  me rip the box open and just seconds after opening it, Greenleigh divided up the contents selecting a pony named “Rosie” for herself, and giving the other pony named “Sunburst” to her sister.  They then not-so-patiently waited as a pried the ponies free of their packaging.  I was a little upset that I didn’t get to play with them first, but I guess they were technically intended for my daughters.  Oh well.

Since Greenleigh is on the lower end of the recommended age range for this toy, I wondered if she would be able to fully understand and use the ponies, but she loved them.  She was easily able to switch out their manes and tails and brush their hair.  She even took off the saddle and some of the other accessories and was able to put them back herself.  She seemed to like the fact that the head moved from side to side, and often turned the head so her pony could look at some of the other toys in the playroom.  Even Hazeline enjoyed her pony and you can see her toddling around, clutching it in this video (Nevermind my messy living room.  I wish I could say that this was a messy day, but honestly, it normally looks like this 15 minutes after they arrive home from daycare.  Unfortunately.):

So while a real horse is not in the cards for us, these plastic alternatives are perfect – no high stable fees, no mucking stalls, and no vet bills.  Oh, and the only grooming you have to do is brushing out (and possibly braiding) their beautiful hair.  Definitely the perfect choice.
