Picture + Puzzle = The Perfect Gift {Review & Giveaway}

I’m always on the lookout for unique gifts, especially for the girls’ grandparents.  I mean, they seem to have everything and if they don’t have something they need, they just go out and get it for themselves before I have a chance to buy it.  But the one time when I can win the battle is custom photo gifts.  The Christmas before last, I gave photo albums, and they were a huge hit.  But you can’t do the same thing every year, right?  So when I found Piczzle, I thought – “That would be perfect!”

Piczzle is a custom made jigsaw puzzle, created with the picture of your choice.  They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including circles, rectangles, and hearts.  But the choices don’t end there, because you can add borders, text, and even get a wooden puzzle instead of the traditional cardboard puzzle!  Need an easy puzzle for your toddler – no problem, choose a wooden 8 piece puzzle.  Want a unique gift for your dad?  Get him an extra large 550 piece puzzle.  Need a challenge?  Get a 2000 piece giant cardboard picture puzzle.  That should keep you busy for a while.  With so many options, there really is something for everyone.

I decided to get a cardboard puzzle and use this picture:

Admittedly not the best picture ever, but it’s my only recent picture of the girls where they are both looking in the same direction.  Why do they torture me this way?  I digress.

I chose the medium 30 piece puzzle.  I had the option of getting a 6 piece puzzle, but I wanted to get something that Greenleigh could do with my mom.  My mom really likes puzzles, so I figured this was the perfect project and gift for both of them.

My puzzle arrived super quick – maybe 3-4 days at the absolute most – and was professionally wrapped and sealed in its own little box.  I opted against getting it gift wrapped, but it’s available.  It even came with a copy of the picture I used for the puzzle on the front (thank goodness because this really came in handy when I was putting it together!).  While I ordinarily wouldn’t open a gift for my mom, I really wanted to try this one out.  I’m sure she’ll forgive me…maybe.  Suddenly 30 pieces looked like a TON of pieces…

…but eventually it started to come together…

Until it was done!

Greenleigh hasn’t seen it yet, but I think she’s going to love it.  And the funny thing is, I loved it too.  It’s been a while since I put a puzzle together and I think I forgot how much fun it can be.  When I finished, I was almost upset that I hadn’t gotten one with more pieces.  And I’m pretty sure my mom is going to think it’s the coolest thing ever.  The pieces are a good weight and snap together easily.  The only thing I would caution people about is that the image came out a little darker on the puzzle than in the original picture – but again, it wasn’t the best picture to begin with.  When I order another Piczzle, I’ll just make sure to use a picture where the lighting is perfect.  There’s no doubt about it though, it really is the perfect gift for birthdays, holidays, or any day!
