LiceLogic: Keeping My House Lice Free For Good! {Review}

You know what scare the crap out of me now that I have kids?  Lice.  Seriously, just typing the word makes me cringe a little on the inside.  Actually, it makes me itch.  For real.  Funny how just one word can do that to you.  When I was little, they would send home a notice with everyone if there had been a case of lice, and I remember the look of fear one of those little yellow pieces of paper would give my mother.  With Greenleigh, there’s been a case or two confirmed at her school since she started there, and I now get that look of fear.  On top of making kids uncomfortable, lice invade your home and threaten other family members.  But if those little white bullies think that they are going to invade my house, cause me to miss work because my kids can’t go to school, and make me sanitize the entire house top to bottom, they have another thing coming, because I have a weapon already stashed away – LiceLogic.

LiceLogic is a non-toxic, pesticide free, hypoallergenic, and pediatrician recommended head lice treatment that kills live lice on contact and loosens nit glue (how gross is that?).  LiceLogic makes a full line of products including daily prevention shampoo/conditioner, daily lice repellent spray, household spray, and treatment shampoo.  They even have their own comb called the Terminator Comb.  Although they are intended to respond to a confirmed case of lice, all the products can be used as a precautionary measure if exposed to lice or as part of a daily prevention regimen.  Those lice don’t stand a chance.

I was so very lucky to receive a bottle of LiceLogic Treatment Shampoo to review.  It’s peppermint scented and safe for kids age 2 and older.  Even better, there are 16 treatments in every bottle, which should get you through an invasion of lice, and then some.  Since the LiceLogic Head Lice Treatment Shampoo can be used as part of a daily care, I decided to try it with Greenleigh the other night.  I also tried a little on my own hair, since the directions said that a tingling sensation would be felt (I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t too much for her).  I was very impressed with how easy it was to use – it lathered very well and was easy to massage into the scalp.  I was glad that the instructions told me about the tingling factor in advance, but it didn’t bother Greenleigh or I.  The peppermint smell was also a huge bonus, compared to the chemical smell that lice products had when I was a kid.

The only downside to this product is how long it is supposed to stay in – nearly 30 minutes.  The instructions state that you are supposed to massage the shampoo into the hair and scalp for 15 minutes, then comb the hair (with the shampoo still in), and then let it stay in an additional 10-15 minutes before rinsing it out.  At 2 years old, Greenleigh isn’t going to stay still that long.  If we were battling a serious threat I would definitely find a way , but luck for us, we weren’t this time.

Although we won’t be using this shampoo every day in our house, I’m thrilled to have it on hand when one of my kids is “invaded”.  The lice won’t be winning in my house anytime soon.  I feel safer just having this in our house!

    Tea Tree oil is fantastic. They hate the smell of it. If you put a couple of drops in your shampoo or bath water it will keep them at bay.
