Happy Valentine’s Day + Cute Valentines for Kids

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!I’m normally so excited about Valentine’s Day – they have a big party at the girls’ school, the kids exchange valentines, and who could forget all the candy?  Yum!  Unfortunately, sickness has found its way back into our house (and this time it got me!), so I was a little short on time and energy to get the girls’ valentines ready this year.  I saw this idea last week and it looked simple enough, so I put them together last night.  Unlike my Valentine’s Ribbon Wreath, this really is a project that can be done in an hour or two.

You will need:

Cardstock in varying colors for the flowers

Green construction paper for the leaves

Lollipops

Pen

Glue or scrapbooking tape runner

Flower pot

Styrofoam ball

Directions:

Step 1 – Get the super cute printable found HERE, and print as many flowers as you need on the cardstock.  Cut flowers out of the cardstock.

Step 2 – Cut leaves out of the green construction paper.  I free-handed one leaf, then traced it for the others.  Make sure that you write “Love, (Your Child’s Name)” on each of the leaves now, because it will be a lot harder once you attach them to the lollipop.

Step 3 – Poke a small hole through the center of the flower, then push the lollipop through.

Step 4 – Using my tape runner, I put tape on the inner most part of the leaf, then wrapped it around the lollipop several times.

Step 5 – Put the styrofoam ball into the flower pot.  I was lucky and was able to find one that fit perfectly, but you might need to cut your styrofoam down a little to make it fit.  And while I didn’t do it, I wish I had used a dab of hot glue to secure the styrofoam ball.

Step 6 – Arrange your flowers by poking the lollipop sticks through styrofoam ball.

So easy, and such a hit at daycare this morning!

  2. Super cute idea!! Love it. Greenleigh is so so stinkin precious in that picture, what a doll. I surely hope you are feeling better and that yours doesn’t drag out the way mine and everyone elses has. Seriously, it might be a plague.

That is too cute!! You could even modify it a little for an Easter/Spring favor. My son is crazy about dum-dum pops. Thanks for the idea and for sharing at Shine on Fridays!
