Dolls Really Freak Me Out, Part Deux

A couple weeks ago I posted about how Greenleigh loves dolls, but that I find them creepy.  In fairness, I find a  lot of things creepy that others don’t, but I digress.  This post prompted several readers to send me pictures of their kids’ creepy looking dolls.  Not sure if they are trying to torture me or provide me with material.  Either way, lets go with it.  So without further adieu…

Whoa…intense.  Or a little possessed.  Not sure which.  It’s all in the eyes with this one.  I feel that they are following me like the pictures in the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom.  Any reason why the eyes need to be orange?  That’s not exactly a normal color for eyes.  And what’s up with the oddly positioned eye shadow?  Can you imagine being little and actually being comforted by this doll?  Waking up in the morning and seeing it stare back at you?  No thanks.

Same genre of doll, but sent to me by a different friend.  Again, a little intense and maybe a little sad behind the eyes?  At least this one has an attempt to smile on its face.  This photo was actually sent to me by my friend Linda who likes dolls and gave Greenleigh her first doll ever.  Even Linda thinks this doll is a little scary.  Her daughter (who is just about to turn 2) fell in love with several dolls at the Disney Store, and from that pile of dolls, she picked this one because – get this – it was the least scary.  Remember how I said that hair painted on a doll’s head was really freaks me out?  Scratch that.  Dolls with sewn on hair really freak me out.

Speaking of hair:

Princess Ariel or Linda Blair from The Exorcist?  Too close to call.  Seriously, google “Linda Blair, The Exorcist” and pictures similar to this will come up (minus the sparkly dress, of course).  Uncanny.  A clear winner in the “creepiness” category.  The friend who sent this to me thinks her daughter leaves it in rooms just to scare her.  Of course, her daughter is 3 and actually likes the doll, so that isn’t likely, but you just never know.

Do you have a doll or toy that your little one adores that really freaks you out?  Send it my way (diaryofaworkingmom@mail.com) and I will showcase all the entries I receive in a few weeks!

I mean, who doesn’t want to be greeted by pictures of creepy looking toys and dolls in their inbox?
